I have a few fried fish recipes, they’re all easy and delicious but this is the easiest one!

This is the easiest one because it is basically just one ingredient, but not just any ingredient. EGG! Is there anything eggs can’t do? Really I think eggs are one of the most nutritious whole foods out there. It is a perfect balance of protein and fats all in one with a super kick of minerals. This recipe is GAPS compliant but even if you are not following any special diet other than eating good food that is good for you then you will love this fried fish!gf-df-fish-sticks-fermented-carrots-brussel-sprouts

I used Wild Alaskan Cod from Trader Joe’s for this recipe. There is different types of fish fillets you can use, I would highly recommend wild fish. Learn more about farmed vs. wild seafood here.

Frying in animal fat really makes a difference.  Saturated fats are very stable and withstand high heat for long periods of time you can do a whole batch in about 3-4 tablespoons of lard.  Coconut oil, ghee, and tallow are also great choices for frying!  Just avoid the processed vegetable oils to enjoy guilt free delicious fried foods.

Our family does not eat meat on Fridays during lent season and it really is nice getting all these delicious fish recipes into our diet more regularly than usual.  We already love seafood so this is a tradition my modernly traditional family loves to keep passing.

The kids love fried fish nuggets with raw milk cheese sticks and fermented carrots!

  1. 1 lb Alaskan Wild Cod
  2. 2 eggs
  3. 1 tablespoon mixed dried herbs (optional but tastier!)
  4. 4 tablespoons of coconut oil, lard, or tallow.
  1. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs and add in the herbs and spices of your choice, I usually just add italian seasoning and black pepper.
  2. Heat up your skillet to medium heat, melt your choice of fat, lard, tallow, coconut oil, avocado oil, ghee, etc.
  3. Cut fish fillets into desired size, the kids prefer nugget size over fish sticks but both work well with this recipe.
  4. Dip the fish pieces into the egg mix and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until gold and crispy. Place in a plate lined with a paper towel or rack and enjoy!
