Easy Chicken Liver Pâté Recipe

Chicken Liver Pâté is a classic recipe that we should all definitely incorporate back into our diets.  The smooth paste goes spread perfectly on a gluten free toast or a celery log.  But the main reason is the nutrition and huge health benefits.

While chicken liver is not something that might sound very appetizing, it is surely worth the try.  Liver is the allstar of healthy food.  One of the most nutrient dense foods out there.  In just one serving you get a punch of essential vitamins needed for a strong immune system.  After all we are only as healthy as our immune system allows.

Vitamin A, D, E, K and all the B vitamins are highly concentrated in liver.  Folic acid, chromium, iron, copper, selenium, zinc, are also all found in liver.  The impressive part is liver is the top source of many of these vitamins and minerals!  Vitamin B12 is a big seller in the supplements section but unfortunately the body does not absorb a lot of these vitamins enough to even make a difference.  Fortunately with just a weekly serving of liver you can get all these important vitamins, real food is amazing like that.

If you’ve never had pâté, this recipe is perfect for you.  There is half liver and half chicken breast or thigh in it for a milder taste great for beginners.

Pâté is absolutely worth the adventure in the kitchen.  Don’t be afraid of adding liver to your diet, offal is one of the foods we need to bring back into our diet more often.  

Chicken Liver Pâté Recipe
Our simple and easy take on the classic superfood, chicken liver pâté.

Ingredients
  1. 1/2 lb chicken livers
  2. 1/2 cup butter
  3. 1 cup cooked chicken*
  4. 1 small white onion
  5. 2 garlic cloves
  6. 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  7. 1 teaspoon thyme
  8. 1 teaspoon sea salt
  9. 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
  1. First melt 2 tablespoons butter in a skillet and cook the onion until translucent.
  2. While that is cooking, prepare the chicken livers, remove the white little strings and pat dry.
  3. Now add in the chicken livers and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Once the livers are no longer pink, transfer to a food processor.
  5. Then add in the rest of the ingredients and process until smooth.
  6. Place in a ceramic or glass container and chill before serving.
Notes
  1. *Extra chicken meat is optional, definitely recommended if you want a milder taste of the liver.
