Typically, carne asada tacos come with a few basic toppings.  Shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, guacamole, salsa (if you like spicy food) and lime.  

Carne asada is definitely the perfect meal for a grill out, you will blow your guest’s socks off with this recipe.  Best of all, carne asada is actually super easy to cook!  Usually, these aren’t gluten free because of the wheat tortilla.  However, you can easily replace it with corn or a siete foods (yum!).

Authentic Carne Asada Tacos

The secret to the classic carne asada recipe is properly seasoning your food.  That means seasoning the beef before you cook it and letting it marinade if possible.  Also, don’t forget the toppings.  Get the recipe for the pico de gallo and the easy chunky guacamole.  Of course, you can add shredded cheese, sour cream, and sauerkraut for a tasty kick.

Carne asada tacos recipe with corn tortillas for an easy meal. Make the toppings ahead and grill the meat right before eating for the best carne asada.

  1. 1 1/2 lbs steak
  2. 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  3. 1/2 tsp onion powder
  4. dash of unrefined salt, black pepper + paprika
  1. 1-2 cups shredded cabbage
  2. pico de gallo
  3. guac
  4. lime wedges
  1. Preheat your grill or grill pan to high.
  2. Season the steak and add to grill.
  3. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side flipping once.
  4. Remove steak from grill and let rest for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Slice the steak into bite sized pieces.
  6. Assemble the tacos, scoop meat onto tortillas. Top with cabbage, pico de gallo, and guacamole; serve immediately.
  1. optional: top with shredded cheese, sauerkraut, + sour cream
